The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – This Saturday, October 25 the thirteenth edition of the International Poetry Festival 2014 (FIPCR14) begins which will take place in different locations throughout the San Jose area such as Heredia, Monteverde, Bethlehem, Perez Zeledon, Turrialba and Limon.

In total, there will be 18 participating poets from different countries to share their talent and knowledge in schools, hospitals, prisons, theaters and auditoriums under the motto “Peace is the word.”

According to Inti Picado, director of the Center for Arts and Cultural Production (CPAC) of the Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ), it has been over a decade that the event has taken place, showing that the country is hungry for poetry and literature.

“This festival is entering its maturity, with a public that grows, a solid offering and an organization full of mystique,” said Picado.

The International Poetry Festival will offer recitals by guest poets, both foreign and Costa Rica; also writing workshops will be offered, in which the public will have a space to give their opinion, ask questions and discuss their findings.

The opening ceremony of FIPCR14 will be on Saturday, October 25, at 7 pm, at the Salazar Melico Popular Theatre and entry is free.

And the FIPCR14 closing ceremony will be on Friday, October 31, at 7 pm at the Mexico Institute.
